Two best practices successfully implemented by the Institution as per NAAC format provided in the Manual.
Best practice 01 : Title of Best Practice: Participatory Research and Innovation Program (PRIP)
Objectives:
To sensitize and train students for basic research
To motivate the students for innovations and research.
To update their knowledge about innovations and research at international level.
To aware students about research ethics.
Context: Research training is a key practice of many institutions. It allows students to disprove lies and explore the truths. It is good practice to find, determine and seize opportunities. Research also promotes confidence, writing, analyzing, and sharing valuable information.This practice is meant to enhance research skill inUG and PG students. The students acquire specific knowledge and practical skills.
Practice: The institute has a Research and Development Cell, which organizes a student’s participatory research program named as ‘Participatory Research and Innovation Program (PRIP)’ for UG and PG level students separately. The purpose of PRIP is to encourage student of UG and PG to develop scientific temper and critical thinking. Mentors help students to identify a topic/ an issue/ a local problem under the given sub-themes and to prepare and present review article for open discussion before a panel of experts of institute. All participants are given certificate for participation and awarded presentation awards with award money.
Evidence of success:Curiosity of students in area of research is elevated and majority of students showed interest towards research career. The number of research students increased after implementation of this practice.
Resource required: Small grant is required for implementation of this practice. Experts for evaluating articles and presentation are invited from different institutes.
Problem encountered: Due to rural background of the students, awareness about the problems and its impacts, lack of fundamental knowledge and interest among students are major problems for implementation of this practice. It can be overcome by motivating and training them about research and by developing appropriate strategies.
Best practice 02 : Title of Practice: Extension activities for community
Objectives:
To sensitize community to Health,Social, Economic and environmental issues for sustainability towards life.
To motivate students for active participation in different extension activities.
To aware students and community for conservation, development and sustainable use of natural resources.
To cultivate social consciousness among students by providing them opportunities to work with community.
To develop an awareness and knowledge of social wellbeing of the community and engage in creative and constructive social activities.
Context: The institute is trying to maintain its social cohesiveness through extended activities in the nearby community to sensitize students and peoples about social issues. The institute regularly promotes participation of students and teachers in socio-friendly extension activities through various cells. The college aims to motivate students through their interaction with various challenges and hurdles faced by the people in the nearby community and encourage them to develop positive attitude towards their life.
The Practice: Institute adopts various measures for sustainability of life. The institution regularly carries out extension activities in the neighborhood community with its students, faculty and staff to sensitize society about social issues, community needs and national goals. In this endeavor the institute has adopted a Village Ratanpur of Sultanpur district for outreach programs and village development. For holistic development of students, institution lays equal emphasis on participation of students in extension activities like SakshartaAbhiyan, SwachhtaAbhiyan, ParyvaranSanrakshanAbhiyan, fit India movement freedom run, Yogic practices and JagrookataAbhiyan about different social and community issues of local and national importance.Events are conductedand training is imparted for students and nearby villagers upon agro-based products.
Evidence of success: Awareness for cleanliness, environment protection, women safety and other social issues has increased manifold in the areas where the practice is performed in comparison to other areas. We are producing own honey, mustard oil and Daliya.
Resource required: Manpower in form of students, faculty members and villagers. Small financial aid isusuallyrequired to purchase accessories, transportation to make awareness campaign successful. Problem encountered: Barriers to implementation of this practice include lack of knowledge, leisure time and appreciation. This can be overcome by intensive action to validate and disseminate information on practices and by developing appropriate strategies. Non-availability of flowering plants as nectar source during summer and winter seasons is big problem in honey production.
