About Us
“Physicists are excellent strategic thinkers because they can successfully interpret complex information into actionable results that can positively affect organisations. Data collection, extraction and outcomes are core functions for business and such skills are inherent in physics.” ....Alex Seeley (Tax Adviser at Ernst Young).
Located on the campus of the Kamla Nehru Institute of Physical and Social Sciences, Department of Physics and Electronics is accommodated in the Faculty of Science. The Department of Physics was started at U.G. level in 1973, during the inception of the Institution. Further, in 1996-97 Department of Physics introduced B.Sc. (Electronics) and M.Sc. (Physics) courses and, the Department name was rechristened as Department of Physics and Electronics. Currently, the Department offers both undergraduate, postgraduate programmes and conducts research in frontier areas of Physics. The Department has qualified, dedicated and sincere Faculty members who are equally passionate about their teaching and research. The research activities have resulted in publication of more than 80 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and 09 Doctorate degrees (Ph.D.) have been awarded by the Dr. R. M. L. Avadh University. Several books have also been published and some minor research projects have been submitted for approval. Prof. S. C. Kashyap (1973-74, Retired Prof. IIT Delhi) was the first HOD followed by Prof. L. For the benefit of P.G. students, research seminars by eminent Indian Professors/Scientists and also by students are organized. The expertise of the Professors/Scientists helps the students for exposure of their knowledge in research and industry. Various activities both at the Departmental and Institute level are also being conducted for the students to create the awareness of their social responsibilities to the society. Our students have been successful in the national level examinations viz., GATE/CSIR-UGC resulting in research placements in India and abroad. Moreover, in preceding years several P.G. students have got University Gold Medal in the subject.
