About Us
The Department of Botany was established in 1973 with graduation programme under valuable guidance of eminent Botanists- Dr. A. K. Pandey, Dr. R. K. Kakkar, Dr. Mahmood Khan, Dr. D. P. N. Singh, and thereafter it flourished under supervision of Dr. C. B. Singh, Dr. H. R. Singh, Dr. A. K. Singh, Dr. Meenakhshi Pandey, Dr. Shalini Singh, Dr. Manoj Kumar and Dr. Ovaid Akhtar as well as Dr. S. K. Shukla and Dr. R. K. Tripathi. The Post Graduate Department came in existence in July 2000 and it has maintained its identity and position in the Dr. R. M. L. Avadh University Ayodhya in respect to teaching and research developments. The research programmes in different disciplines started from 1980 and till now 14 students have been awarded PhD degree in Botany. A number of pass outs from the Department are working in the different research labs in India and abroad. A number of students have succeeded in administrative civil services and other competitive exams. Many pass outs of the Department after qualifying CSIR/UGC NET have become part of the teaching and research fraternity of the prestigious universities and labs. The Department is actively engaged in floristic studies of different botanical regions of India and neighbouring countries for field and practical enrichment of UG and PG students. The Department has developed "Babu K. N. Singh Botanical Garden" for phyto-conservation and research purposes. The Department has maintained an excellent herbarium along with their e-version. The Department has also an add-on certificate course “Floriculture“. The department has established itself as a focal point for the uplift of rural/urban people as well as the students of the region.
